What is ECO4 funding?
Under ECO, medium and larger energy suppliers fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in households. Each obligated supplier has an overall target based on its share of the domestic energy market. The obligated energy suppliers work with installers to introduce certain efficiency measures into your homes, such as loft, floor, or wall insulation, or heating measures.
The whole house approach.
The ECO4 scheme is designed to encourage a whole-house approach. As a result, multiple measures will be required to qualify for funding. You must improve your homes EPC score/band sufficiently, normally 2 bands (e.g from an E to a C)
Who is eligible for the ECO4 scheme?
Homeowners or Private Tenants
Household income is under £31,000
Individuals living in the home who get income-related benefits
Properties with inefficient electric heating
The energy efficiency measures available through the ECO4 scheme are given via eligibility criteria. If you are on qualifying benefits, and you’re a homeowner or a private tenant, you are likely to be eligible for free home improvements. Most Councils have a scheme where low-income families are eligible too without benefits.
If you’re a landlord and your tenant claims benefits, you may encourage them to apply for the grant, thus improving your property’s energy efficiency for years to come.

What is an Energy Efficiency Rating (EPC rating)
The Energy Efficiency Rating shows how efficient the property was at the time the certificate was issued. You’ll see a rating somewhere between A and G. The most energy-efficient home would have an A rating, whilst the worst possible score is G. The average rating for a property in England and Wales is D. The higher the rating, the lower your fuel bills are likely to be.
The EPC will also show you the potential Energy Efficiency Rating for the property. This shows you how much better the performance could be if you carried out all the recommended improvements.
